Casa Particular Standards

I know what you may be thinking – if average Cuban family doesn’t make that much money, are rooms they offer for rent in Casas Particulares going to be of equal standards? To offer a simple answer – you have nothing to be concerned over.

Each Casa Particular matches tourist standards. The rooms are safe and clean, equipped with everything you need to meet your expectations. Granted, casas particulares come in different price ranges so the furniture and the set up will vary. Some casas only offer basic accommodation so the room only has a bed with a closet and maybe a small table, while others come fully furnished and decorated to western standards. Higher priced Casas Particulares often have their own telephones for guests to use and other electrical equipment, such as TV sets and refrigerators.

Remember – families that have licenses to operate Casas Particulares pay high monthly fee to Cuban government for the right to operate a casa. This fee must be paid whether they’ve had enough guests to make enough or not. They will do whatever it take to make sure you enjoyed your stay with them 100% and will stay with them again on your next visit to Cuba. Their livelihood depends on complete satisfaction of each guest. Word of mouth is how they get most of their business. They will want you to give their address and phone number to your friends who are visiting Cuba so they can get their business too. To achieve that, they will make sure the room is of such standards so as to fit your expectation for the price paid.

Before Cuban government issues individuals the license to rent their rooms as Casa Particular, the owners must make sure they meet Western standards.
